Hawkins has season-ending surgery
MILWAUKEE -- Brewers reliever LaTroy Hawkins underwent season-ending right shoulder surgery on Friday. Dr. Lewis Yocum removed fraying from Hawkins' labrum and rotator cuff.
Hawkins' right arm will be immobilized for seven days before he begins physical therapy near his home in Dallas. The Brewers did not offer a timetable for Hawkins' full recovery, but he is expected to be 100 percent healthy before the start of Spring Training.
He's under contract for 2011 as part of a two-year, $7.5 million contract struck in December at the Winter Meetings.
Hawkins was 0-3 with an 8.44 ERA in 18 appearances for the Brewers this season.
