Gross leaves game with injury

HOUSTON -- Gabe Gross, the hottest hitter in a slumping Milwaukee offense, left Tuesday's game in the top of the seventh inning with an apparent hamstring injury.

With the Brewers trailing Roy Oswalt and the Astros, 3-0, Gross pulled an RBI double into the left-field corner that scored Bill Hall and put Milwaukee on the board. He may have been thinking about heading to third base on the play, as Astros right fielder Aubrey Huff struggled to get a handle on the baseball, but Gross pulled up halfway to second base and limped the rest of the way.

Kevin Mench entered immediately as a pinch-runner and scored on the Brewers' third consecutive double off Oswalt, who surrendered just one hit through the first six innings.

Gross has hit safely in six straight games and is hitting .312 over his last 51 games. He made his 47th start of the season on Tuesday and manned left field.
