Coming off a year in which they were matched against clubs from the tough AL East, the Brewers will face mostly Central clubs in 2012 Interleague Play. Besides the usual home-and-home series with the Twins, the Brewers will tangle with the Royals in Kansas City from June 12-14, and with the White Sox in Chicago from June 22-24. The Brewers have not played the Royals since 2007.
The exception to the Central focus is Toronto, which still plays in the AL East that housed the Brewers from 1972-93. There's no love lost there. In 1992, the Brewers won 17 of their final 22 games to close on first-place Toronto, which hung on to win the division, and eventually, the World Series. In 1993, the Blue Jays lured longtime Brewers player Paul Molitor via free agency and went on to win the World Series again.
The Brewers' 2012 season opener will come against a club with one game already under its belt. Before they travel to Milwaukee, the Cardinals will play a Wednesday, April 4 regular-season game against the Marlins at Florida's new 37,000-seat stadium.
The Brewers and Cardinals will also meet from July 16-18 in Milwaukee and from April 27-29, Aug. 3-5 and Sept. 7-9 in St. Louis.
The Brewers' longest road trip of the season will come very late, a 10-game, 10-day trip to Pittsburgh, Washington and Cincinnati from Sept. 18-27. The only other three-city trip is early, from April 27-May 5 to St. Louis, San Diego and San Francisco.
September's schedule is heavy on non-divisional games, including series at Florida (a four-gamer that marks Milwaukee's only visit to the Marlins' new stadium), at home against the Braves and Mets, at Washington and at home against the Padres.
The Brewers will play at home on several holidays, including Easter Sunday on April 8 vs. the Cardinals, Mother's Day on May 13 vs. the Cubs, and on the Fourth of July against the Marlins.
The Brewers will close out the 2012 regular season at Miller Park from Oct. 1-3 against the Padres in the first regular season games in October in Milwaukee since the 2001 season.
Home start times for the 2012 season will again be 7:10 p.m. CT for night games Monday-Friday, 6:10 p.m. for most Saturday games (several are listed as TBD), 12:10 p.m. for weekday afternoon games in April and May (except Opening Day), and 1:10 p.m. for Sunday games and weekday afternoon games from June through September (except July 3 and July 4, which are both 3:10 p.m., and Sept. 12, which is TBD). Road start times will be announced later in the winter. All game dates and times are subject to change.
