CHICAGO -- Brewers reliever Takashi Saito was available to pitch Tuesday after receiving treatment for a right calf injury, manager Ron Roenicke said. Saito was off limits for Monday's series opener against the Cubs after reporting discomfort to members of the club's athletic training staff. "Whether it's a pull or whatever, it bugged him [Monday], so we stayed away from him," Roenicke said. "He has no idea how he did it."
Saito, 41, has been dogged by a series of injuries this season, from a left hamstring strain, to a left rib cage strain and a stiff muscle behind his right shoulder. When healthy, he has been excellent, compiling a 1.90 ERA in 27 appearances.
