Gonzalez to rejoin Brewers after birth of son
ATLANTA -- Alex Gonzalez is expected to rejoin the Brewers as scheduled on Tuesday in Milwaukee after his wife, Johanna, gave birth to their third child on Sunday in Florida.

Axel David Gonzalez weighed just under seven pounds. The couples' other children are also boys, Alex Jr. and Johander.

"I texted him," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "Everything went well."

Gonzalez went on paternity leave after going 2-for-4 with a home run in his return to Atlanta on Friday night. The veteran played with the Braves before signing as a free agent with the Brewers during the winter.

With Gonzalez away, Cesar Izturis filled in at shortstop for the final two games of the Braves series.
