PHOENIX -- Brewers right-hander Marco Estrada was told he could miss more than a month with his strained right quadriceps. He's hoping to beat that projection. "We're hoping for two weeks, hopefully it's less," he said. "I did hear 4-6 weeks. They said that's how long it normally takes. I had a cortisone shot and they told me that could speed up the process." Estrada suffered a slight tear of his right quadriceps while legging out a two-run double in the first inning of Wednesday's win over the Giants. The Brewers placed him on the 15-day DL on Thursday.
Estrada was able to put weight on his right leg but was barred from physical activity for a few days while the cortisone does its work. Eventually, he hopes to resume throwing to keep his arm in shape while his leg heals. "I have to do something," Estrada said.
