Braun wins fifth straight Silver Slugger Award

Ryan Braun didn't win a Silver Slugger Award as a rookie in 2007, but since then he owns a perfect record.

The Brewers left fielder claimed his fifth straight award on Thursday, when they were presented live on MLB Network. The Silver Slugger, presented by Louisville Slugger, goes to the best offensive player at each position in the American and National leagues, based on voting by coaches and managers.

Braun now has the longest active streak in the Majors, as well as the longest by a NL outfielder since Barry Bonds won five straight (2000-04).

Coming off an MVP season in 2011, Braun made his fifth consecutive All-Star team while leading the NL with 41 home runs, 356 total bases and a .987 OPS. The 28-year-old batted .319 with 36 doubles, 112 RBIs and 30 stolen bases.
