SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Yovani Gallardo, making his first start since pitching for Mexico at the World Baseball Classic, was sharp Wednesday night as the Brewers fell to the D-backs, 7-0, at Salt River Fields.

Gallardo allowed a homer to the first batter he faced, Gerardo Parra, but retired the next 12 batters, including five by strikeout.

"It definitely felt good," Gallardo said. "Obviously, we didn't want to be back in camp this early, but it's a good feeling to be back with the guys and preparing for the season, getting in that routine."

Brewers reliever Jimmy Henderson had a rough night. The right-hander was charged with four runs in the sixth inning. He faced five batters, walked three and allowed a double while recording just one out.

Parra, who was playing in his first game since going 0-for-8 for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, led the D-backs' offense with three RBIs.

Randall Delgado started and pitched well for the D-backs. The right-hander, who is battling Patrick Corbin and Tyler Skaggs for the No. 5 spot in the Arizona rotation, tossed four shutout innings.

The only time Delgado found himself in trouble was the first inning when the Brewers had runners on second and third with one out.

Delgado settled down to strike out Carlos Gomez and Alex Gonzalez to end the threat.

Up next: The Brewers return from an off-day to host the Indians at Maryvale Baseball Park on Friday afternoon, with left-hander Chris Narveson on the mound and perhaps Aramis Ramirez in the starting lineup. Ramirez, Milwaukee's regular third baseman, tested his sprained right knee in sliding drills on Wednesday afternoon and said he hoped to return to action on Friday or Saturday. He's been sidelined since March 2. Narveson will start opposite Cleveland's Brett Myers in a 3:05 p.m. CT game that can be heard on Gameday Audio and the Brewers Radio Network with Bob Uecker and Joe Block.
