Roenicke, Brewers mulling potential moves

|

MILWAUKEE -- General manager Doug Melvin, assistant general manager Gord Ash and manager Ron Roenicke met Monday afternoon to discuss the Brewers roster. The trio discussed possible roster moves when Aramis Ramirez returns from the disabled list, likely this week, and what to do with the young outfielder Khris Davis.

Davis batted .262 with six home runs and 16 RBIs in 61 at-bats during Spring Training to earn a spot on the team, but Roenicke hasn't found much playing time for the 25-year-old since the season began. In the team's first 23 games, Davis has only had 16 plate appearances and is batting .200.

"It's not fair to him to not give him at bats here," Roenicke said.

No roster move was announced before Monday night's game with Pittsburgh, but Roenicke hinted one could be coming soon.

"Some of that has to do with Aramis and when he's ready to get back in that lineup," Roenicke said. "When he's back, we have to make a move. We may make a move beforehand. It may be one move. It's not going to be a lot."
