CINCINNATI -- Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun was out of the lineup a day after he was hit on the wrist with a pitch by Reds starter Bronson Arroyo.
"On my sheet yesterday I said we'd evaluate him when he came in, and we did and he's out," Brewers manager Ken Macha said.
Macha said that Braun would continue to be day-to-day until he is ready to go. Macha put outfielder Frank Catalanotto in Braun's spot in the lineup.
Braun was taken out of the game in the seventh inning after he hit a grounder that was ruled an out because of an interference call on Mike Cameron at second base. Braun told Macha that he couldn't grip the bat.
Macha put together multiple lineups to try to fill the void left by Braun. Macha said the most difficult part was deciding who to put in front of and behind Prince Fielder. He settled on Casey McGehee batting third and Corey Hart fifth.
