MILWAUKEE -- History says that no matter how talented the player selected by the Brewers 12th overall on Day 1 of the First-Year Player Draft on Thursday, it will be years before he reaches the Major Leagues. Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke nonetheless popped in on the team's war room Monday afternoon.
"I'm not locked in on it, [but] I go up every year and try to spend a little bit of time there to see what we're thinking and who we're interested in," Roenicke said. "I like looking at what they're thinking for the first round. There are a couple of regular players and three starters. That was good."
MLB.com's latest mock draft was published Monday and links the Brewers to a number of potential picks, including Vanderbilt right-hander Tyler Beede.
The 2014 Draft will take place from Thursday-Saturday, beginning with the Draft preview show on MLB.com and MLB Network on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT.
