Brewers make 30 selections on day three of the 2014 MLB Draft


MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers made 30 selections during the third day of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft from rounds 11-40 this afternoon. Milwaukee selected 15 right-handed pitchers, seven left-handed pitchers, two outfielders, four infielders and two catchers today. 

The Brewers selected Hawaiian LHP Kodi Medeiros with their first round pick and today selected another Hawaiian pitcher. High School RHP Jordan Yamamoto was the Brewers 12th round selection (356th overall) out of Saint Louis School. 

The Brewers selected catcher J.J. Schwarz in the 17th round (506th overall) out of Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) HS. Schwarz was ranked 73rd on Baseball America's Top Draft Prospects list and is the son of Jeff Schwarz, a former pitcher for the White Sox and Angels and coach in the Marlins organization. 

LHP Zach Hirsch was one of seven left-handed pitchers selected by the Brewers today. The University of Nebraska senior went 5-2 with a 1.72 ERA this season in 31 relief appearances. 

Overall, the Brewers made 41 selections over the three day draft that concluded today and includes 23 college players and 18 high school players. Milwaukee has selected 27 pitchers (eight left-handers and 19 right-handers), six infielders, five outfielders and three catchers.
