MILWAUKEE -- Rickie Weeks took over at second base for Scooter Gennett in the fifth inning of Tuesday's game and is expected to be in the starting lineup on Wednesday after Gennett felt renewed tightness in his right quadriceps.
The leg had been bothering Gennett since Saturday, when he was removed in the eighth inning in favor of a pinch-hitter. He had Sunday off because the Brewers faced a left-handed starter -- Weeks starts against southpaws -- but was back in the lineup for Monday's and Tuesday's games against the Reds.
"Scooter, I'm sure, won't be in there [on Wednesday]," manager Ron Roenicke said following his team's 4-3 win. "He'll be day to day. He's had this for a couple of days; we tried to go easy on him yesterday."
Hitting mostly against right-handers, Gennett entered the night with the best batting average (.307), slugging percentage (.485) and OPS (.830) among National League second basemen.
