CHICAGO -- Jason Rogers, the reigning Brewers Minor League Player of the Year, had a pretty good week at Triple-A Nashville -- and we're just talking about Sunday.

Rogers homered three times and drove in nine runs during the Sounds' doubleheader sweep of Round Rock. Two of the homers and six of the RBIs came in Game 1, and he hit a three-run homer in Game 2. Including those games, Rogers has hit safely in 12 of his last 18.

Overall, he is hitting .288 with a .357 on-base percentage this season between Double-A Huntsville and Nashville. He has 14 home runs and 71 RBIs in 115 games.

"I never actually saw him play until he got called up to Triple-A, but my first impression was, he's definitely a guy with a lot of power," said right-hander Mike Fiers, who was promoted to the Major Leagues last week. "I feel like he knows the strike zone, and he's a good hitter. He's a big guy, but he's not just a guy that swings and hacks at everything -- he knows the strike zone. He usually puts the ball in play.

"I remember the first game, he hit a ball over the center-field wall, and I don't think I've ever seen that in the parts of four years that I've been in Nashville. I've never seen a guy hit a ball over that. It was insane. Great power."

Rogers is a candidate for a September callup because he is already on the 40-man roster and is versatile defensively. He has played first base, third base and the outfield in the Minors.

Third base is in limbo in Milwaukee beyond this season because incumbent Aramis Ramirez is in the final guaranteed year of his contract. Rogers has played 103 games at the position, appearing there for 37 of his 38 games with Nashville.

"The times I saw him, he was solid at third base. He gets it done," Fiers said. "He's one of those guys that he's not the most flashy, but when it comes down to it, he played a really decent third base."
