CHICAGO -- Longtime TV analyst Bill Schroeder left the FS Wisconsin booth during Monday's game at Wrigley Field to receive medical care for an infected right index finger but told a club spokesperson that he hopes to be back on the mic when the series continues on Tuesday.
Schroeder underwent surgery last week on the finger and remarked during the early innings of Monday's broadcast that he was feeling some pain. A medical staffer at Wrigley Field stopped by the booth and suggested he go to a hospital for treatment.
Davey Nelson, an analyst on FS Wisconsin's pre- and postgame shows, took over for Schroeder in the booth.
The 55-year-old Schroeder, a former Brewers catcher, is in his 20th season as a color commentator on the team's telecasts.
