Right-hander Tyler Wagner, the Brewers' No. 14 prospect, threw seven scoreless innings Monday, as Class A Advanced Brevard County defeated Tampa, 8-0.

Wagner struck out eight batters, his second highest total of the season. He worked effectively around five hits and two walks, authoring his 14th quality start in 23 games this season.

Right-hander Jon Huizinga relieved Wagner to start the eighth and threw two scoreless innings to complete the shutout. It was Huizinga's first appearance in affiliated ball since 2003, when he pitched for Class A Beloit. The Brewers signed the 34-year-old to a Minor League contract last week.

Wagner received plenty of support from the Manatees offense, led by Brewers' No. 1 prospect Tyrone Taylor. The center fielder went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. He extended his hitting streak to six games and is now hitting .283/.331/.409 in 121 games this season.

With the victory, Wagner improved to 13-5 with a 1.60 ERA. He has struck out 111 batters and walked 44 in 141 innings this season. He leads the Florida State League in wins and innings pitched. He ranks second in ERA and WHIP (1.09), trailing only Pirates' No. 1 prospect Tyler Glasnow in both categories.
